The Lady Lambs was originally a simple buying group founded in 1983 by Doris Wright. With her friends, they pooled money together to bid on the lamb projects that were shown and auctioned at the Houston Livestock Show and RodeoTM. They were particularly interested in those children at the end of the auction or the lower placed lambs
Over the years, many people have kept the spirit of the original Lady Lambs alive and continued to build support for the purchase of the exhibitors at the end of the auction. In particular, Renee Brown ran the buying group for over 10 years.
Renee and past president Ann Page, were instrumental in turning the Lady Lambs into a charitable organization and in 2007, the Lady Lambs incorporated and became an official 501c3 organization.
Since it's beginnings, the Lady Lambs have donated to hundreds of children through bidding at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Lamb & Goat auctions.
Today, we are a diverse group of women and men that raise money for the children of Texas that show lambs or goats at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo through a variety of fundraising events.
